For individuals who want to become faster today

Velodrome aero testing for cyclists involves measuring their speed and power output while they ride laps on an indoor velodrome. The goal is to determine the aerodynamic efficiency of the cyclist and their equipment and identify areas for improvement in speed, power, and overall performance. The test results can inform equipment choices, training strategies, and race tactics. The test involves an experienced tester who can analyze and interpret the data collected during the trials.

Pricing

Solo 400 euros per rider (2 hours total)

Paired 300 euros per rider (2 hours total)

What to expect

Sessions take place on the indoor velodrome Eddy Merckx in Ghent, Belgium. Our holistic approach to aerodynamics testing involves the following:

  • A personal testing plan. We request pictures of your current position and gear to effectively deduce such a plan.
  • 2 hours of on-track testing. A solo test allows for 12-14 trials, while a paired plan provides 8-10 runs per individual. This typically results in 20-35W and 15-20W savings, respectively. Actual savings depend, among others, on the current position, gear, and the rider's flexibility.
  • Advice on how to reduce other sources of drag, i.e., rolling resistance
  • The use of our state-of-the-art software.

We advise future customers to practice riding on the indoor velodrome. In Ghent, practice is possible during public training hours.

About Us

Streamline was born from the desire to go faster. In the world of cycling, aerodynamics plays a crucial role in determining the speed and efficiency of a bike and its rider. However, optimizing aerodynamics is complex. There is no silver bullet solution, and the market is saturated with bold claims about equipment that cheats the wind.

We wanted to demystify aerodynamics to reap its benefits in our triathlon careers. However, access to quality aerodynamics testing was limited by cost and availability, particularly in mainland Europe. Recognizing this problem and armed with our scientific background (two scientific PhDs), we decided to take matters into our own hands. We saw an opportunity to bring transparency to companies' aerodynamics claims and make aerodynamics testing more accessible to everyone. With our expertise and state-of-the-art technology, we founded, streamline, a velodrome aerodynamics testing service that provides accurate and reliable results at an affordable price. As a result, streamline is now on a mission to bring science-based solutions to the cycling industry and provide high-quality aerodynamics services.
